My favorite design/development tools

CSS Edit and Espresso

I am a fan of CSSEdit and Espresso from MacRabbit. Both tools are light weight, fast and well designed. I love that I can get right to coding with CSSEdit and the fact that you get feedback right away is great. I wish it would allow for rendering the code as IE (6,7, and 8), and perhaps an update for more CSS3 would be great. As for Espresso, the only thing I would ask for is a way to format code like Dreamweaver or Visual Studio. Overall, small things but these would have a big impact on my work flow.

Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator

Not much to reveal here, these are the 600 pound gorillas of design. If I had any suggestion, it would be reduce the footprint of these programs. They are resource hogs. However, I can not imagine that I will happily give up Photoshop on any computer that I want to design on.

Snagit on Mac/Jing + Basecamp with Screencast.com

A (sorta) new edition to my work-flow, Snagit on Mac has been great for getting screenshots in a hurry. The all in one capture is hands down the best tool of its kind. I tie all of my communication from early comps to reviews of final code/pages together in Basecamp. I like to use the upload to Screencast.com and embed function (I also do this all the time in Jing) and embed the screenshots right in the comment area. It allows me to share a lot and not go over the allowed
